What is IT?

IT stands for information technology. It involves computers and data manipulation with data being the ‘information’. The IT department of a business works to solve technological problems. One responsibility of the IT department is governance: enforcing the policies and processes that keep the IT systems functioning in relation to business needs.

IT is important as specialists may need to handle, for example, cloud services, data overload and mobile and wireless usages. There are multiple IT career opportunities due to the variety of individual roles within the department.
